Dr. Aaron T. McGee
Dr. Aaron T. McGee is a Tennessee State University alumnus, civic leader, and founder of Big Leadership Energy, a social enterprise and cultural platform developing leaders through voice, clarity, and authentic presence.
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Tennessee State University (2010), a Master of Arts in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University (2016), and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Tennessee State University (2026). His doctoral research examines youth leadership competency gaps and the mechanisms of co-optation in co-governance structures at community organizations.
With over 16 years of experience in youth development, nonprofit leadership, and civic engagement, Aaron has served as Program Director, Executive Director, CEO, Vice President, and Board Chairman across multiple sectors. He currently serves on the Nashville Sports Authority Board and works as a Senior Operations Manager at an organization committed to social justice and community organizing.
In March 2022, Aaron founded Big Leadership Energy, a coaching and training social enterprise that develops young leaders to build self-efficacy, advocate authentically, and define their voice with clarity and purpose. Through BLE, Aaron offers leadership coaching, workshops, curriculum design, and scholarship support to student leaders across HBCU and community spaces in Nashville and beyond.
Big Leadership Energy operates as both a coaching practice and a cultural voice. Through his Mass Communication background and content creation expertise, Aaron amplifies the stories of emerging leaders across generations through podcasting, social media platforms, and multimedia storytelling. The Big Blue Energy podcast at Tennessee State University launched this work and demonstrated Aaron's commitment to centering young leaders' narratives and voices.
Aaron is rooted in servant leadership, faith practice, and the conviction that authentic change requires leaders who understand their own power and are willing to use it in service of their communities.
